Immortals Movie 2011 Online Free: A Genre or a Ripoff?

Hell, if enough people rip an idea off over a long enough period of time, we call that a genre. Immortals doing what 300 does is not an issue for me. However, someone involved in the movie must want more from it than just copying another film's concept. The motivation behind making Immortals seems to be driven by financial gains rather than artistic expression.

I'm actually fond of historically-set mythology films, but I don't believe the problem with Immortals lies in its setting or genre; it's the motivation behind its creation that is flawed. Everyone talks about how Immortals is a 300 ripoff, and rightly so, but few have mentioned that it also bears some resemblance to God of War.

The movie follows Theseus (Henry Cavill), a stonemason who heeds the words of the sibylline oracle (Freida Pinto) and sets out to stop the bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke). Hyperion's goal is to find the long-lost Bow of Epirus, which would grant him invincibility and allow him to cast the gods out of Mount Olympus, becoming master of the world.

Power-hungry King Hyperion and his ruthless army march across Greece, leaving a trail of destruction and death in their wake. While Immortals does borrow heavily from 300 and God of War, it's up to the viewer to decide whether it's a genuine attempt at creating a new genre or simply a lazy ripoff.
